The Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is always a hotspot for the latest in mobile tech, AI, and robotics—and 2026’s Day 1 did not disappoint. I hit the floor at the FIRA convention center with my camera rolling, capturing everything from graceful (and sometimes battery-challenged) dancing humanoids to full-on robot sword duels and the sleek Xiaomi SU7 electric supercar that turns heads everywhere.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the highlights with timestamps so you can jump straight to the action:
- 00:00 – 1:09: Quick intro and montage to get you in the MWC vibe—robots, crowds, and energy everywhere.
- 4:52 – 7:34: Up-close with humanoid robots from Chengdu. These aren’t just showpieces—they’re functional business bots priced between 15,000 and 35,000 Euros, built for advertising, public engagement, and real-world mobility. The team even shared details on their upcoming Kickstarter launch. Impressive engineering for practical applications.
- 7:34 – 9:03: Robot dance party! The humanoids groove to the music… until the batteries start dying around the 8:51 mark. A funny (and very real) reminder that even advanced robotics still battles power constraints in live demos.
- 16:19 – 20:30: The highlight for many: a dramatic robot battle with swords! Two bots face off in a choreographed duel, complete with dramatic clashes—until one dramatically gets stuck at 20:16. Pure entertainment with a side of engineering showcase.
- 28:46 – 32:00: The star of the Xiaomi booth—the SU7 electric supercar. This beast looks strikingly similar to a Porsche Taycan (check the side profile around 31:31). Xiaomi continues to push boundaries beyond smartphones into high-performance EVs. Sleek design, aggressive lines, and that signature Xiaomi innovation.
- 42:32 – 45:18: A clever AI-powered robotic arm that autonomously positions itself for the perfect photo. It uses real-time AI to adjust angles and framing—great example of how robotics and computer vision are merging for everyday creative tools.
MWC always blends the futuristic with the practical, and this year’s early floor walk reinforced how fast robotics and AI are evolving—from entertainment spectacles to potential business tools and next-gen transportation.
What stood out most to you? The sword-fighting robots, the battery struggles during the dance, or the Xiaomi SU7 stealing the show? Drop a comment below—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
