Selfish World
We now live in a world where kindness and love are interpreted as a) weakness and b) lust. Love is confused with sex and a life of happiness with whomever you want to be with.
Biblically this position is inconsistent with Christianity, obviously the proclamation of Jesus Christ it not important anymore in our world. Sadly, this is something taking place around the “free” world as well as in the rest. In America, we see this daily. Christians are not respected any longer, but many Christians are following the “world” and have been absorbed by the same value system our lord Jesus Christ died for in the Cross, this means that Christians in many ways do not lead by example. Obviously we are all sinners and mistakes are common, but there are so many counter examples and failures that are used and augmented by those non believers to justify their own positions of sin.
Many Christians also disrespect the same values and morals in a daily basis or live a dual life, as a consequence faith in a community of non-believers is hard to achieve with many turning selfish and not sharing the word with others.
Unfortunately, the idolatry of self is here to reign, selfishness is a key component and a key value in many people nowadays Being on your own without anyones need (Article on selfishness) , satisfying your own self is a key ingredient for “happiness.” As a consequence people use people for many purposes. Love is replaced with use, and a practical concept: if you give me, I will give you. If you do this for me, I will do that for you. You scratch my back, I will scratch yours. But as society continues its route, these selfish nature of each mind transforms in a world where people live for their own self not caring anymore for your bothers or sisters.
“But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. James 3:14-16 EVL”
As Pope Francis recalls, love one another, take care of each other, don’t hurt others, take care of your life, take care of your family, take care of children, the elderly, stop all hate, fights, and envy. Speak to one another, and keep on growing in the heart as you get closer to God.
Wise words from our Pope, as Catholics I do listen in to other preachers in the evangelical world, Moody’s Radio and others. They read the bible and provide insights of other teachings found in the holy book.
Not withstanding, it’s evident how sometimes the value system that Christianity relies on, does not require any economic or financial benefit, indeed these are prevalent in many preachings. In fact, its a system designed for given away your belongings and preparing for an afterlife next to our lord Jesus Christ.
Beyond doubt, politics are influential in our life, the new new-conservative ales are based on selfishness and “Christianity.” It’s like if your diet was based on ice-cream and bootcamp conditioning, you may say not inconsistent but certainly contradictory.
More and more, I can see how this selfishness and hard hardened hearts is destroying mankind, From marriage, to family, to new wars, and a new value system sustained by power and lust.
Marriage indeed is an institution created to maintain and keep us together as one flesh, as a consequence family was then created, and as family became the foundation of society so did marriage. Still many traditional families exists, but now this is becoming not as “important.” Divorce rates are high, 50/50 or more chances to get divorce or have 2 or 3 wives. Children will be raised with multiple parents.
“Defense of Marriage,” indeed the definition of marriage is now at stake because the same definition of family has been destroyed due our selfishness and idolatry of one self. Marriage needs to be defended from divorce no from the 1% of gay people that are trying to get out of their limbo, obviously Paul wrote about marriage and clearly stated what it is and what it is not. Once again, divorce is a selfish act to not be able to deal with another person, destroy the covenant made with God and hence destroy family.
If indeed, nothing is perfect and there will be cases of “Fraud” where the woman defrauded the man or the man the woman, the church defines ways to dissolve such arrangements and be able to fulfill the covenant with another person. Once again, the bible provides guidelines on how dating needs to occur and how courting will lead to marriage.
Corinthians 7:1-2
“Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.”
As a foreseeable consequence, the society keeps decaying, drugs and addictions replace relationships, the human touch and humanitarian behavior are condemned if done for love or in the name of God. As you recall from the scriptures, God is love: “God is Love/ Dios es amor” 1 John 4:8

This carnage of values continues, and nothing seems to stop it.
