April 2011 Updates

I have travel again to Honduras, and visited friends, as well as participated in activities related to “Honduras Global.”  I presented both at UNAH (National University of Honduras) and UJCS (Universidad Jose Cecilio del Valle) on LTE/4G Wireless technologies. It was good to share with a EE and CS students there how the future will pan out in the wireless world. Interesting enough, the same week “CLARO” aka America Movil acquired the business from “Digicel” which was a newcomer wireless carrier in Honduras. The acquisition is leaving the country with three wireless carriers, TIGO, CLARO, and HONDUTEL.  The interesting part is that Honduras WiMAX licence was purchased by DIGICEL and I would assume it will be part of the deal, although details are not clear on what the deal really is.

While this was taking place I recorded with a Blackberry 8700 and my Nokia N95 a few shots totally unrelated. The first set are some models I caught while at “City Mall’ in San Pedro Sula. It was a Thursday afternoon in the city, a bit rainy but enjoyed it with my family.

Now, Tegucigalpa was having a lot of demonstrations made by the teacher unions because of problems with their Pension fund and some congress initiatives geared to change how teachers are paid, which indeed created quite a lot chaos.  Here some takes of me driving from Loarque/Airport Area to UNAH via “Anillo Periferico”
